Nigel Smeaton, Malahide, County Dublin

Smeaton Nigel, Malahide, 27th June 2020. Peacefully in the wonderful care of St Francis Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. Dearly beloved son of Ann and Godfrey and loving father to Cian. Very sadly missed by his brother Nicholas, sisters Rebecca and Victoria, sister in law Aoife, brothers in law Seamus and Bernard, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a wide circle of friends.
Late of the Irish National Ice Hockey Team, Northern Ireland Tridents Ice Hockey Team and The Azzam Yacht. May he Rest In Peace.
A private funeral will take place for immediate family. Those who would have liked to attend the funeral, but due to current restrictions cannot do so, please feel free to leave a message in the Condolence Book at the bottom of this page or send on condolences by traditional manner. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to St. Francis Hospice, Raheny.

    Our sincerest sympathies to Nigel’s family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Nigel was an absolute gent on and off the ice and was taken way too soon. His legacy and memories will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

    I met Nigel 4 years ago during one of his many trips to the United States. He was one of the most genuine people I ever met and fought as hard as he could as long as he could. He will be greatly missed by many people.
